Typhoon Man Yi
So, yesterday we went through QUITE a storm. With wind gusts of over 100 mph, it put all of last years typhoons to shame. Fortunately, Okinawa is built to handle these kinds of winds and our concrete home took Man-Yi in stride. So, while the winds were howling and at times I feared our front door might be ripped off its hinges, I managed to spend the entire day in comfort in front of the TV. My film list included: Swept Away (the Italian 1974 version), Il Postino, and to keep with the foreign film sweep, the entire 5 hour Pride and Prejudice mini series. (To Joe's credit he actually lasted all the way till Pride and Prejudice before complaining.)
Here's some pictures:
Sugar cane field behind our house
Our palm trees take a beating
Street in front of the house
The sugar cane fields got obliterated
Some serious wind
